ABOUT THE ANTIQUE GAS & STEAM ENGINE MUSEUM IN VISTA
Now in its 39th year, the Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum lies on 55 acres of beautiful farmland. Over the years, the Museum has become one of the premier educational and recreational facilities in all of North County San Diego. With a band of volunteers, the Museum’s collections focus on the period from 1849 through the early 1960’s and feature exhibits that show what farm life was like back then. There are a vast array of tractors, along with large stationary gas and steam engines that actually run! Visitors can also cook on the old wood burning stove, take rides on the small train and enjoy the wagon ride.
The farm also has a Blacksmith and Wheelwright shop, a steam & gas stationary and a mobile industrial power unit. The Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum in Vista also does a really cool thing each winter. They grow an actual crop of wheat to demonstrate local dry land farming techniques. They also do a twice-yearly tractor show, where they show visitors how to harvest and shuck. You can also buy the flour that the Gristmill grinds and enjoy the Molasses that is harvested in the summer months. The Museum also offers educational programs and events, all overseen by the volunteers.
