Save Water and Cash with Vista’s Water Conservation Programs!

Living in San Diego County, we are all too familiar with the effects of the drought and the benefits of water conservation. Using water efficiently is an important responsibility that comes with living in this gorgeous climate that we all love. By working together, we can maintain a reliable water supply to our area. The city of Vista offers great water conservation programs and rebates for residents, homeowners, businesses, homeowner associations and public agencies. Below are the programs offered, according to the Vista Irrigation District website:

RESIDENTIAL REBATES

High-Efficiency Rebates Indoors:

Installing a high-efficiency toilet of 1.28 GPF or less will get you a $100 rebate

Installing a high-efficiency clothes washer (single or multi-family): $85

-Clothes washers may also be eligible for an additional $50 rebate through San Diego Gas & Electric’s new Home Energy Efficiency Rebate Program. You can call 800-644-6133 for more details.

High-Efficiency Rebates for Outdoors:

Weather-based Irrigation Controller (1 acre or less): $80

Weather-based Irrigation Controller (1 acre or more): $35 per station

Rotating Nozzles: $4 (you must have a minimum of 15)

Soil Moisture Sensor System for less than one acre: $80

Soil Moisture Sensor System for more than one acre: $35 per irrigation station

Rain Barrels: $75 each

Turf Removal

The Vista Irrigation District currently offers two rebates for turf removal. Customers must remove existing grass lawn and can be eligible for both incentives if the area being converted meets the guidelines for both programs.

#1: Metropolitan Water District of Southern California’s Socal Water $mart Rebate

  • Artificial turf is allowed
  • Both front and back yards are eligible
  • $2.00 per square foot

#2: San Diego County Water Authority’s Water Smart Turf Rebate

  • The area you want to convert must be seen from the street
  • Artificial turf is NOT allowed
  • $1.50 per square foot, a maximum of $3,000 per site

Smart Landscape Evaluations for Single-Family Homes

You can get some valuable tips and recommendations on how to save water in your home. The Smart Landscape Evaluation is a free service designed to assist local Vista customers. A technician will come to your house and review indoor fixtures and outdoor irrigation systems. They will then give you a list of recommendations and a proposed watering schedule. Device Rebates

Weather-based Irrigation Controller – eligible for $35 per station

Central Computer Irrigation Controller- $35 per station

Large Rotary Nozzles (you must have a minimum of 8 sets, 2 per site) – $13 per set

Rotating Nozzles for Pop-Up Spray Retrofits – $4 (15 minimum)

Sprinkler In-stem Flow Regulator (25 minimum) – $1 per regulator

Laminar Flow Restrictor (minimum of 10) – $10/restrictor

Plumbing Flow Control Valve (minimum of 10) – $5/valve

High-efficiency Toilet (tank type) – $100

High-efficiency Toilet (flushometer) – $100

Multi-family High-efficiency Toilet – $100

Multi-family High-efficiency Toilet (4-Liter) – $145

Urinals (Zero Water Use and Ultra-low Water Use; 0-0.125 gal/flush) – $200

Cooling Tower Conductivity Controller – $625 (pH – $1,750)

Dry Vacuum Pump – $125 per 0.5 horsepower

Connectionless Food Steamer – $485 per compartment

Air Cooled Ice Making Machine – $1,000

Rebates for Turf Removal

The Vista Irrigation District currently offers two turf removal rebates for commercial customers. Existing grass lawn must be removed prior.

  • Artificial turf is allowed
  • $2.00 per square foot

#2: San Diego County Water Authority’s Water Smart Turf Rebate

  • Artificial turf is not allowed
  • $1.50 per square foot; $9,000 maximum per site
