“A vital part of Vista’s heritage is the Vista Historical Society’s Museum at Rancho Minerva, where staff and docents preserve and honor the past while serving the present.”
We love history and our hometown of Vista, CA has plenty of it!
The Vista Historical Society and Museum is a real thing and it’s located at the famed local home, Rancho Minerva. The building was cultivated by greek immigrant Nick Huntalas in the 1920’s and 30’s, it has stood the test of time and (still) to this day greets visitors to make them feel at home in the historic place.
The Vista Historical Society and Museum keep Vista’s past alive. Their website offers a great summary of the history of Vista and many of the exhibits artifacts are collected locally in Vista. Rancho Minerva is also home of the Vista Press, our local newspaper distributing since 1926. That’s nearly 90 years of history in Vista!
The Museum also houses rotating exhibits such as Vintage Clothing, Military Equipment and Artifacts, Vista School Projects, Agriculture and more.
Their newest exhibit will open September 19th, “Exploring the Arts and Culture of Downtown Vista” by 4th and 5th grade local students. The launch will be accompanied by an Ice Cream Social from 1:30pm to 3:30pm, just $5 for adults and $3 for kids.
You can also rent the venue out for weddings, family reunions or corporate meetings. They offer all inclusive services from set up to break down.
If you’d like to become a member of the society’s annual dues are $5.00 Student , $25.00 Individual, $45.00 Family, and $100.00 Business, Firm or Organization. There is no charge for tours of the Vista Historical Society Museum.
